R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jean Milliken is being honored by the Zonta Club of
  West Hidalgo County for her outstanding contributions to education
  and the youth of her community; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Mission High School and Hardin-Simmons
  University, Mrs. Milliken has long benefited her community through
  her tireless service as an educator, and her endeavors in behalf of
  the youth of the Lone Star State have earned her the lasting respect
  and admiration of those privileged to know her; and
         WHEREAS, Currently in her 11th year as a substitute teacher
  for McAllen ISD, she served the district for 31 years as a first
  grade teacher, working at Fields Elementary, Thigpen Elementary,
  the Migrant School, and Crockett Elementary; she is a member and
  past president of the DS Chapter of P.E.O., and she is active with
  Calvary Baptist Church and the La Revista Book Club; and
         WHEREAS, The strength of our communities depends on the
  dedication of individuals like Mrs. Milliken, a talented teacher
  whose endeavors are having a lasting and beneficial effect in the
  lives of many Hidalgo County students and their families; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Jean Milliken on her years of service to
  her community as an educator and extend to her best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Milliken as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
