R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends were saddened by the passing of
  Mary Eugenia Curvin on October 19, 2006, yet the memory of her full
  and rewarding life may offer a measure of comfort in their time of
  loss; and
         WHEREAS, Known as Gene to her family and friends, Mrs. Curvin
  was born on December 24, 1916, in Roodhouse, Illinois; she attended
  Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri, and worked at the Chicago law
  firm of her uncle, Illinois Supreme Court Justice Floyd E.
  Thompson; she married Bernard A. Curvin on June 17, 1939, in
  Springfield, Illinois, and together this devoted couple raised 10
  children; and
         WHEREAS, The Curvin family lived in many different states,
  including Illinois, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Texas, and Kansas, due
  to Mr. Curvin's work, which included assignments with the United
  States Survey Office; Mrs. Curvin was a homemaker who took great
  pride in caring for her children and husband; and
         WHEREAS, The death of Bernard Curvin after 42 years of
  marriage was difficult for Mrs. Curvin, but she relied on her devout
  Catholic faith and the support of loving family members and friends
  to help her through that difficult time; and
         WHEREAS, A resident of Norman, Oklahoma, for many years, Gene
  Curvin was an asset to her community; she was an active member of
  the St. Thomas More Catholic Church and devoted extensive time to
  the Birthright and Hospice organizations; she also welcomed foreign
  students into her home for 12 years, sponsoring them during their
  studies at the University of Oklahoma; and
         WHEREAS, With her warm spirit and abiding concern for her
  loved ones, Gene Curvin created a legacy of compassion, and her kind
  and caring nature will continue to inspire those who were fortunate
  enough to have known her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the life of Mary Eugenia Curvin and offer
  sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her sons,
  Danny, Patrick, and Joseph Curvin; to her daughters, Suellen Heard
  and her husband, Jack, Kathleen Novas and her husband, Mark,
  Margaret Jernigan and her husband, Gene, Teresa Medford, Jeannie
  Aiken and her husband, James, and Carol Sietz and her husband,
  Geoff; to her 30 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and to
  her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mary
  Eugenia Curvin.
