R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Trooper Jorge Vargas is retiring from the Texas
  Department of Public Safety in 2007, drawing to a close an
  outstanding 25-year career with the State of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Trooper Vargas joined DPS on January 13, 1982,
  working with the driver license division in Dallas; during his
  tenure in North Texas, he was detached to the governor's detail
  under Governor Bill Clements and also worked with the highway
  patrol and motor vehicle inspection; and
         WHEREAS, In 1994, he transferred to El Paso, where he was with
  the highway patrol and commercial motor vehicle service before
  gaining assignment with the driver license service, where he
  continued throughout the remainder of his career; and
         WHEREAS, For a quarter-century, Trooper Vargas has served the
  State of Texas with integrity and dedication, earning the lasting
  respect of all those who have been privileged to work with him, and
  it is indeed a pleasure to recognize him for his exemplary tenure
  with the Texas Department of Public Safety as he embarks on an
  exciting new chapter in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Trooper Jorge Vargas on the
  occasion of his retirement as a trooper with the Texas Department of
  Public Safety and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Trooper Vargas as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
