R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, From its famous purveyors of barbecue to its many |
|
fine Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants, Texas is justly renowned for |
|
its distinctive foods and its rich tradition of culinary |
|
excellence; and |
|
WHEREAS, The state's reputation as the home of the perfectly |
|
prepared steak is furthered by Killen's Steakhouse in Pearland, |
|
where chef and native Texan Ronnie Killen exhibits his talent and |
|
expertise on a nightly basis; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Killen began cooking when he was eight years old |
|
and opened his first business, Killen's Kountry BBQ, at the age of |
|
23; fulfilling a childhood ambition, he graduated first in his |
|
class from Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School in London, following in |
|
the footsteps of such noted chefs as Julia Child and Ming Tsai; |
|
having cooked at fine resorts, hotels, and restaurants, he made the |
|
short list for the position of executive chef at the White House in |
|
2005; and |
|
WHEREAS, Well known among Houston-area diners and restaurant |
|
critics alike for its steak and seafood fare, Killen's Steakhouse |
|
has cultivated an enthusiastic following in Pearland and the |
|
Houston metropolitan area since its opening in 2003, and Ronnie |
|
Killen has proven himself an outstanding addition to a long and |
|
storied lineage of great Texas cooks; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Ronnie Killen of Killen's Steakhouse for |
|
his contributions as a talented chef and restaurateur and extend |
|
best wishes to him for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Killen as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
