R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, On May 20, 2007, the Reverend David L. Everson, Sr.,
  and congregants of First Union Baptist Church in Galveston are
  celebrating Reverend Everson's eighth pastoral anniversary; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to offering his counsel and guidance in
  spiritual matters, Reverend Everson supports a community resource
  center within the church that offers tutoring to children and
  computer literacy and adult education aid; under his guidance, the
  church also provides food, clothing, bicycles, and more to children
  in need; and
         WHEREAS, Reverend Everson has developed an awareness program
  in collaboration with city officials that addresses solutions to
  local crime, and he is in the process of instituting a disaster
  preparedness program and creating a community emergency response
  team; and
         WHEREAS, Since taking on the myriad responsibilities of
  pastor, Reverend Everson has served First Union Baptist with
  distinction, earning the respect and admiration of his congregants
  while reaching out to the surrounding community, and his faith and
  dedication continue to inspire all who know him; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend David L. Everson, Sr.,
  on his eighth anniversary as pastor of First Union Baptist Church
  and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Reverend Everson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
