R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Having demonstrated great promise as a student and |
|
|
citizen, Rochelle V. Causey is being recognized at the Reginald |
|
|
Keith Guillory Scholarship/Academic Awards Luncheon on April 14, |
|
|
2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This gathering is honoring 16 students in grades 5 |
|
|
through 12 who have distinguished themselves through their academic |
|
|
pursuits and civic involvement; the awards pay tribute to the |
|
|
memory of Reginald Keith Guillory, a student, musician, and member |
|
|
of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Houston, whose tragic death in |
|
|
an auto accident at age 18 prompted area residents to create a |
|
|
scholarship fund; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A most deserving recipient of this honor, Rochelle |
|
|
Causey is the 11-year-old daughter of Myron and Rachel Causey; she |
|
|
is a fifth-grade student at Atherton Elementary School and a member |
|
|
of Galilee Baptist Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Causey has an "A" average and has received |
|
|
perfect attendance and honor roll certificates; she is also a |
|
|
praise dancer for her church, as well as a member of its youth |
|
|
choir; additionally, she enjoys playing basketball, cooking, and |
|
|
baking and aspires to attend Texas Tech University or Prairie View |
|
|
A&M University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is a source of tremendous |
|
|
pride to her family and teachers, and it is a pleasure to recognize |
|
|
Rochelle Causey as an exemplary member of the community whose many |
|
|
achievements foretell a bright future; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Rochelle V. Causey on being a 2007 |
|
|
honoree of the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship/Academic Awards |
|
|
Luncheon and extend to her best wishes for additional success; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Causey as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
