R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with many joyful times and |
|
loving moments may comfort the family and friends of Ruperta Moreno |
|
Escobar of Corpus Christi, who passed away on February 22, 2007, at |
|
the age of 95; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on March 27, 1911, in Hidalgo, Nuevo Leon, |
|
Mexico, Ruperta Moreno moved with her family to Asherton, Texas, at |
|
the age of four; she grew up on the William Clements Ranch, where |
|
her father was employed, and where, when she was 21, she met her |
|
future husband, Juan G. Escobar; after a two-year courtship, the |
|
couple married on February 11, 1934, and made their home in Corpus |
|
Christi; they shared a half-century of marriage before Mr. |
|
Escobar's passing in 1984, and they took great pride in their |
|
children, Juan M. Escobar, Jr., Antonio, Yolanda, Gloria, and |
|
Robert; and |
|
WHEREAS, A longtime member of Christ the King Catholic |
|
Church, Mrs. Escobar was cherished by her family and friends for her |
|
generous and compassionate nature, and she will long be remembered |
|
by all those whose lives she so richly blessed with her wisdom and |
|
kindness; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ruperta Moreno |
|
Escobar and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to |
|
her daughters, Yolanda E. Perez and her husband, Ramon, and Gloria |
|
M. Escobar; to her son, Robert Escobar and his wife, Laura; to her |
|
10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two |
|
great-great-grandchildren; to her sisters, Connie Luna and Lupe |
|
Flores; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ruperta |
|
Moreno Escobar. |
