R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Reverend L. D. Lee of Houston is celebrating 20 |
|
years in the ministry in 2007, and this anniversary offers a fitting |
|
opportunity to honor this fine gentleman and acknowledge his |
|
exemplary career; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of the Bayou City, Reverend Lee studied at |
|
the University of Houston and Texas Southern University and became |
|
a licensed and ordained minister after attending the Houston Bible |
|
Institute and the College of Biblical Studies; and |
|
WHEREAS, Reverend Lee has held a host of positions through |
|
the years, serving as Sunday school teacher, commitment time |
|
counselor, youth discipleship counselor, instructor for Holman |
|
Street Baptist Church Mission and the Missionary Baptist Church |
|
Association, and spiritual director and counselor for Unity |
|
Children's Home; he has also been a valued member of the male chorus |
|
and brotherhood and the music council; and |
|
WHEREAS, After leading Blessed Hope Baptist Church for five |
|
years, Reverend Lee founded Greater Vision Church in 2003; the |
|
original congregation of 350 has grown to include more than 700 |
|
active members, a tribute to Reverend Lee's spiritual guidance and |
|
visionary leadership; his record of excellence has earned him the |
|
lasting respect and admiration of his church, as well as |
|
recognition by Gospel Today magazine as one of "America's Most |
|
Loved Pastors"; and |
|
WHEREAS, Reverend Lee has demonstrated a wholehearted |
|
commitment to his church and the wider community, and his faith and |
|
many good works have been a source of profound inspiration to all |
|
who know him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend L.D. Lee on his 20th |
|
pastoral anniversary and extend to him sincere appreciation for his |
|
dedicated service; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Reverend Lee as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
