R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love |
|
and shared experiences, and Robert and Claudia Batts of Dallas are |
|
celebrating this joyous milestone in their marriage on April 7, |
|
2007; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Batts were joined in matrimony in 1957 |
|
at a ceremony held in Clarence, Louisiana; through the years, they |
|
have been blessed with a treasured family that includes a daughter, |
|
Lucretia Batts Hammond and her husband, Martin, as well as a beloved |
|
grandson, Charles Martin Hammond; and |
|
WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. Batts is a |
|
retired welder and Mrs. Batts is a cosmetologist; in addition to |
|
meeting their work and family responsibilities, they have been |
|
valued members of Community First Baptist Church for 39 years, with |
|
Mr. Batts serving as a deacon and Mrs. Batts serving as a deaconess |
|
for the congregation; moreover, Mr. Batts is an organizing member |
|
of C. H. Gerald Masonic Lodge No. 419, a 32nd degree Mason, and |
|
deputy grandmaster of the Jeremiah Lodge; Mrs. Batts is the second |
|
vice president of the Texas State Association of Beauty Culturists |
|
and shares her time and talents with a number of groups, including |
|
the board of directors for the Bluitt Flowers CPO Clinic, the |
|
American Cancer Society, the South Dallas Business and Professional |
|
Women, and Theta Nu Sigma National Sorority; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Batts have enjoyed five decades of |
|
abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an |
|
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|
commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Robert and Claudia Batts on their |
|
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes |
|
for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Batts as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
