R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Cynthia Barrett of Sandra Day O'Connor High School
  in Helotes was recently selected as one of 20 U.S. teachers to serve
  as an educational ambassador to Costa Rica through the Toyota
  International Teacher Program; and
         WHEREAS, Chosen for her dedication to professional
  excellence and her outstanding leadership skills, Ms. Barrett was
  awarded a 10-day trip to Costa Rica, where she was immersed in local
  culture and given a first-hand look at the innovative
  developmental, agronomy, and conservation strategies being
  implemented by this Central American country; and
         WHEREAS, Highlights of this exciting opportunity included
  visits to the internationally recognized National Biodiversity
  Institute and Costa Rica's National Museum; in addition, she
  traveled to several pre-Columbian archaeological sites,
  participated in sustainable agricultural projects at EARTH
  University, and met with Costa Rican educators to discuss
  environmental education; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Barrett has well represented her school,
  community, state, and nation, and she will no doubt use the
  invaluable lessons she has learned throughout this remarkable
  experience as she continues to benefit the youth of the Lone Star
  State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Cynthia Barrett on her selection to
  participate in the Toyota International Teacher Program as an
  educational ambassador to Costa Rica and extend to her best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Barrett as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
