R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of Antioch Baptist Church in Gainesville are |
|
|
gathering to celebrate the 100th anniversary of their congregation |
|
|
on May 27, 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1907, this venerable house of worship has |
|
|
played a vital role in its community throughout the past century, |
|
|
providing its members with a welcome opportunity for spiritual |
|
|
growth and fellowship; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the years, congregants have enjoyed the |
|
|
inspired teachings of a number of notable pastors, including |
|
|
Reverends J. J. Johnson, R. L. Jones, Irving, Morton, and George H. |
|
|
Jones; today, members are led by the Reverend Gerald W. Daniels, who |
|
|
has ably served in this pivotal role since 1992; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For a century, Antioch Baptist Church has been a |
|
|
source of strength and inspiration to those who have worshipped |
|
|
there, and it stands as a tribute to the faith and dedication of its |
|
|
members, past and present, who have devoted their time, prayers, |
|
|
and resources to ensure its continued existence; now, therefore, be |
|
|
it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of Antioch |
|
|
Baptist Church and extend to its members and clergy warmest best |
|
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
