R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The members of the Galena Park High School |
|
|
Jacketeers earned numerous honors at both the Showtime |
|
|
International Gulf Coast Dance Spectacular and the Crowd Pleasers |
|
|
Showcase Contest held in February 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With their impressive showing, these talented young |
|
|
Texans were named Grand Champions at the Gulf Coast Dance |
|
|
Spectacular and also took home three Best in Category Awards for |
|
|
Jazz, Pom, and Lyrical, a Best in Category Runner-Up Award for |
|
|
Novelty, the Judges Award, Sweepstakes, and an Applause Award for |
|
|
Energy; they garnered further recognition at the Crowd Pleasers |
|
|
Showcase Contest, claiming Super Sweepstakes, Second Runner-Up |
|
|
Grand Champion, and Best in Class Novelty; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Skillfully led by Rhiannon Billett, director, and |
|
|
Terri Hernandez, assistant director, the Jacketeers are Captain |
|
|
Natalie Rodela, Co-Captain Anita Macal, Junior Lieutenant Yazmin |
|
|
Tamez, Junior Lieutenant Alyssa Trull, Junior Lieutenant Britny |
|
|
Salguero, President Veronica Jordan, Ruth Scott-Bucio, Mercedes |
|
|
Mendez, Gennifer DeLeon-Hernandez, Jennifer Martinez, Julie |
|
|
Moreno, Maria Valdez, Yesenia Gomez, Courtney Corfield, Janee |
|
|
Elmore, Korina Rodriguez, Victoria Salinas, Tiffany Jasso, Jessica |
|
|
Arenas, Kelli Tyson, Damaris Jaramillo, Mayra Franco, Vanessa Sosa, |
|
|
Melanie Cruz, and Valeria Hinojosa; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Galena Park High School Jacketeers demonstrated |
|
|
great spirit, strength, and dedication to achieve these outstanding |
|
|
results, and they are a source of tremendous pride to their school |
|
|
and community; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Galena Park High School |
|
|
Jacketeers on their winning performances at the Gulf Coast Dance |
|
|
Spectacular and the Crowd Pleasers Showcase and extend to all those |
|
|
involved with the group best wishes for continued success; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Galena Park High School Jacketeers as an |
|
|
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
