H.R. No. 1403
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The citizens of Galveston County have lost a
  dedicated peace officer with the death of Constable Charles D. Gay
  of Santa Fe on March 30, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, "Skip" Gay was born on July 15, 1940, in McRae,
  Arkansas, and he had been a resident of Santa Fe, Texas, for 43
  years; after working as a carpenter for more than two decades, he
  became interested in public service and worked as a reserve officer
  for the Galveston County Sheriff's office; he later became a deputy
  constable for Precinct No. 4 in Galveston County; he was elected
  constable of the precinct in 1983, and he ably served its residents
  in that capacity until the time of his death; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to his duties as a public official,
  Constable Gay was involved in various community and recreational
  activities; a member of the Methodist faith, he was also active in
  the Democratic Club in Santa Fe and was an honorary member of the
  Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3789; and
         WHEREAS, A friend to many, Mr. Gay was especially devoted to
  his wife of more than 35 years, Dolores Gay, and their six children,
  Rick, Ronny, Randy, Anita, Lisa, and Pamela; he also enjoyed the
  companionship of his dog, Daisey, and his horse, Smoke; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Skip Gay will
  long remember this true Texas gentleman who championed public
  safety, whose calm demeanor inspired confidence in those around
  him, and who brightened the lives of countless individuals with his
  delightful sense of humor; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Charles D. Gay and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Dolores Gay; to his children, Rick Turrentine, Ronny Turrentine,
  Randy Turrentine and his wife, Mary, Anita Weldon and her husband,
  Cody, Lisa David and her husband, Jerrel, and Pamela Secades and her
  husband, Rio; to his grandchildren, Meredith, Karissa, Kandace,
  Shawna, Ashley, Randy, Steven, Rush, Alex, Darby, Shelby, and
  Greyson; to his great-grandchildren, Mason, Marissa, Haze, Jagger,
  and Audrey; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Constable
  Charles Gay.
