R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Judy Heaps, West Mesquite High School teacher, has |
|
been selected as a recipient of the Texas Exes Award for Outstanding |
|
Teachers, becoming one of only 12 instructors in the Lone Star State |
|
to receive this honor; and |
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by The University of Texas alumni |
|
association, the Texas Exes Award for Outstanding Teachers dates to |
|
1987 and honors educators who inspire and support their students, |
|
bring credit to the teaching profession, and are highly respected |
|
by their colleagues and their community; by highlighting the |
|
achievements of these individuals, Texas Exes increases public |
|
awareness of the many contributions that teachers make to society; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, An educator for 35 years, Mrs. Heaps has worked at |
|
West Mesquite High School for 22 years, where she teaches honors |
|
English to juniors; she previously taught at Mesquite High School |
|
and Vanston Middle School; throughout her career, she has motivated |
|
her students to excel through her exceptional instruction and |
|
encouragement; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Heaps stays up to date on trends in education, |
|
regularly attending workshops and implementing new techniques in |
|
her classroom; she has also served as a mentor to other teachers by |
|
sharing the benefits of her experience with those new to the |
|
profession; and |
|
WHEREAS, Exemplifying educational excellence, Mrs. Heaps has |
|
positively influenced both students and teachers with her |
|
dedication, knowledge, and inspiring presence in the classroom, and |
|
her myriad achievements make her a deserving recipient of this |
|
prestigious commendation; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Judy Heaps for receiving a Texas |
|
Exes Award for Outstanding Teachers and extend to her best wishes |
|
for continued success in her important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Heaps as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
