R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Ryan Guerrero is ably serving his fellow Texans as
  an intern in the office of State Representative Thomas Latham
  during the 80th Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, A Plan II Honors student and government major, Mr.
  Guerrero is in his second year at The University of Texas at Austin,
  and he has made his mark through a variety of academic achievements;
  he completed his third semester with a cumulative 4.0 grade point
  average and 96 credit hours; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Guerrero has been named a BMC Software National
  Merit Scholar and National Merit Hispanic Scholar; in addition, in
  2004, his essay concerning the Iraq War was chosen as best from the
  State of Texas by the U.S. Institute of Peace Essay Contest, which
  earned him a scholarship and allowed him to attend a seminar in the
  nation's capital; and
         WHEREAS, Also accomplished in his extracurricular
  activities, he served as vice president of his freshman class for
  his fraternity, and he writes for the Daily Texan; he was awarded a
  Headliners Club scholarship in the fall of 2006 for excellence in
  journalism and academics; and
         WHEREAS, Through his work as an intern, Mr. Guerrero has
  contributed to state government and has enhanced his knowledge of
  the legislative process as well as the issues facing the Lone Star
  State; he has performed his duties with an exceptional commitment
  to upholding the high standards of the Texas Legislature, and it is
  a privilege to recognize him for his fine work; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Ryan Guerrero for his service as a
  legislative intern in the office of State Representative Thomas
  Latham and extend to him warmest best wishes in all his future
  endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Guerrero as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
