R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Hank Bivins has been named the Mesquite Independent |
|
|
School District 2007 Volunteer of the Year at the Elementary Level |
|
|
for his years of selfless service to the students of Beasley |
|
|
Elementary School; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Bivins served in the U.S. Army for 21 years |
|
|
before spending two decades as a teacher in the Dallas Independent |
|
|
School District; he retired in 1996; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since 1997, Hank Bivins has been a fixture at |
|
|
Beasley Elementary, where he volunteers from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. every |
|
|
Tuesday and Thursday; altogether, he has given more than 4,000 |
|
|
hours of assistance to the students and staff at the school; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding Texan tutors students throughout |
|
|
the day and lends a hand in the office and the cafeteria when not |
|
|
tutoring; he works with children of all ages, and the personal |
|
|
interest he takes in them serves to foster not only their academic |
|
|
success but also their development of self-confidence and |
|
|
self-esteem; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through his generous sharing of his time and |
|
|
talents, Hank Bivins is helping young students to acquire a |
|
|
foundation on which they can build fulfilling and productive lives, |
|
|
and his longtime efforts in that cause are indeed worthy of |
|
|
recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Hank Bivins on his selection as the |
|
|
Mesquite Independent School District 2007 Volunteer of the Year at |
|
|
the Elementary Level; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Bivins as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
