R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Jose R. Rodriguez has earned the Lucy G. Acosta |
|
Humanitarian Award, presented by LULAC Project Amistad; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez has shared his time with a number of |
|
worthwhile endeavors to assist his fellow citizens, serving on the |
|
board of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, |
|
as chair of the Healthcare Committee for the Texas Border |
|
Coalition, and as a member of the National Juvenile Justice |
|
Prosecution Center Advisory Committee; the El Paso Diocesan Migrant |
|
and Refugee Services and Advocacy Center for Children of El Paso |
|
have also benefited from his membership; and |
|
WHEREAS, The county attorney for El Paso County, Mr. |
|
Rodriguez worked with the Farm Worker Program of Texas Rural Legal |
|
Aid for a decade and, before his election in 1993, served as a legal |
|
advisor to El Paso County Judge Alicia R. Chacon; and |
|
WHEREAS, His notable contributions have earned him the |
|
Sembrador del Bien Award from the Sin Fronteras Organizing Project, |
|
the Martin Luther King, Jr., Community and Civic Award, and the |
|
Vision Award from the El Paso Police Department; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jose Rodriguez has set an example of leadership and |
|
service to which all may aspire, and his efforts in behalf of his |
|
community have made a positive difference in the lives of many; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jose R. Rodriguez on his receipt of |
|
a Lucy G. Acosta Humanitarian Award and extend to him sincere best |
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
