R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Jose Manuel de la Rosa has earned the Lucy G. |
|
Acosta Humanitarian Award, presented by LULAC Project Amistad; and |
|
WHEREAS, For nearly a decade Dr. de la Rosa served as regional |
|
dean of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of |
|
Medicine in El Paso, also directing the branch as lead academic |
|
officer and CEO; he previously worked in the department of |
|
pediatrics as an instructor, assistant professor, and associate |
|
professor; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. de la Rosa has further given of his time and |
|
expertise to benefit his community, helping to establish the |
|
Kellogg Community Partnership Clinics, four school-based health |
|
centers that provide services to colonia residents in El Paso's |
|
lower valley; appointed to serve on the Border Health Commission by |
|
President Bush, he has also advocated for his fellow West Texans |
|
through testimony before interim committees of the state |
|
legislature; and |
|
WHEREAS, A charter member of the National Hispanic Medical |
|
Association and the Hispanic-Serving Health Professions Schools, |
|
Dr. de la Rosa is also active with the Foundation for the Diocese of |
|
El Paso; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jose de la Rosa has set an example of leadership and |
|
service to which all may aspire, and his efforts in behalf of his |
|
community have made a positive difference in the lives of many; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Jose Manuel de la Rosa on his |
|
receipt of a Lucy G. Acosta Humanitarian Award and extend to him |
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. de la Rosa as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
