R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyous times, loving
  moments, and meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the
  family and friends of Jose Guillermo Alarcon, Sr., of Clint, who
  passed away on December 16, 2006, at the age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, Born on January 28, 1921, in Esperanza, Mr. Alarcon
  joined the army in 1942 and served through 1945, achieving the rank
  of Technician 5th Grade; he took part in the Normandy invasion on
  D-Day, fought in the Battle of the Bulge and in Central Europe, and
  twice sustained wounds in combat; a soldier of exceptional valor,
  Mr. Alarcon received numerous medals and decorations, notably the
  Silver Star, the Bronze Star with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple
  Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster, and five Combat Battle Stars, as
  well as the Army Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal,
  the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three
  Bronze Stars and one Silver Star, the World War II Victory Medal
  with two Overseas Service Bars, the World War II Occupation Medal,
  and the Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar; and
         WHEREAS, After returning to civilian life, Jose Alarcon
  worked for 35 years at the White Sands Missile Range, where he was
  employed as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Alarcon and his beloved wife, Virginia, shared a
  rewarding union of 58 years until her passing in 2006; deeply
  devoted to their family, they set an exemplary model of citizenship
  for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, a
  large circle in whom they took great pride and joy; like his wife,
  Mr. Alarcon was a valued member of San Lorenzo Catholic Church; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have shared in the
  friendship and love of Jose Alarcon will long miss this esteemed and
  courageous gentleman, and the memory of his life and dedication to
  his family and his country will forever occupy a treasured place in
  their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jose Guillermo
  Alarcon, Sr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
  family: to his sons, Guillermo Antonio Alarcon, Jose Guillermo
  Alarcon, Jr., and his wife, Nancy, Oscar Alarcon and his wife,
  Yolie, and Waldo Alarcon and his wife, Flora; to his daughters,
  Rosalinda Vigil and her husband, Ray, and Dorina Lucero and her
  husband, Armando; to his 23 grandchildren and 12
  great-grandchildren; to his brothers, Ernesto and Humberto
  Alarcon; to his sisters, Ernestina Guerra and Maria Bowling; and to
  his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jose
  Guillermo Alarcon.
