R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The passing of Alfredo G. Alarcon on December 20, |
|
2006, deeply saddened the family and friends of this respected San |
|
Elizario resident; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Alarcon was born to Pedro and Isabel Alarcon on |
|
March 8, 1924; he enlisted in the United States Army on December 4, |
|
1945, and served for two years, achieving the rank of Technician 5th |
|
Grade and earning the American Campaign Medal and the World War II |
|
Victory Medal before being honorably discharged in 1947; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 1952 Mr. Alarcon joined the Bureau of Reclamation |
|
as a ditch rider; he retired in 1987 after three and a half decades |
|
with that agency; over the years, he also engaged in farming in San |
|
Elizario; and |
|
WHEREAS, Held in high regard by his neighbors and fellow |
|
citizens, Mr. Alarcon played an active role in his church and served |
|
on the board of the San Elizario Independent School District from |
|
1960 to 1975; and |
|
WHEREAS, A devoted family man and esteemed community leader, |
|
Alfredo Alarcon will be greatly missed by those fortunate enough to |
|
have known him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Alfredo G. Alarcon and |
|
extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
|
Ercilia Alarcon; to his children, Delma, Alfredo, Jerry, and |
|
Sylvia; to his 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; and to |
|
his other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alfredo G. |
|
Alarcon. |
