R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Public Service Recognition Week, which is being
  observed from May 7 through 13, 2007, provides an opportune time to
  honor governmental employees in the Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, These dedicated men and women touch the lives of
  countless people through their efforts to fulfill needs ranging
  from maintaining state parks and preserving historical landmarks to
  paving roads and keeping the peace; they include law enforcement
  officers, firefighters, doctors, nurses, attorneys, judges,
  educators, scientists, engineers, accountants, computer
  programmers, researchers, historians, social workers, librarians,
  construction workers, members of the armed forces, elected
  officials, and many, many others; and
         WHEREAS, Public Service Recognition Week is celebrated
  across the country during the first week of May; it includes an
  exhibit on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., showcasing the
  innovative and essential work of public employees; and
         WHEREAS, Government services and the people who provide those
  services are crucial to the operation of a democratic government
  and contribute greatly to the quality of life in the state, and it
  is indeed fitting to salute their contributions; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor federal, state, county, and city employees
  in Texas on the occasion of Public Service Recognition Week, May
  7-13, 2007.
