R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A dedicated civic leader is receiving well-deserved |
|
recognition as Maureen Priestner of Abilene is awarded the 2007 |
|
June Bratcher Award for political participation from the Texas |
|
Medical Association Political Action Committee (TEXPAC); and |
|
WHEREAS, Named for June Bratcher, a longtime political |
|
trailblazer who was active in TEXPAC initiatives, this award is |
|
annually presented to a physician's spouse who has been |
|
significantly involved in a federal- or state-level electoral |
|
campaign; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Priestner is an active member of TEXPAC and the |
|
Texas Medical Association Alliance, the volunteer organization |
|
formed by spouses of TMA physician members; her political expertise |
|
and organizational skills are notable, and she has made important |
|
contributions to election campaigns; and |
|
WHEREAS, This knowledgeable community activist has also |
|
devoted an impressive amount of time and resources to help educate |
|
Abilene-area residents on the political process and has served as |
|
an advocate on health care issues; and |
|
WHEREAS, A member of the Taylor-Jones-Haskell County Medical |
|
Alliance, Mrs. Priestner has demonstrated an enduring interest in |
|
bettering her community by serving as a volunteer at the Medical |
|
Care Mission in Abilene, which assists low-income families who lack |
|
medical insurance; in all of her volunteer work, she has been an |
|
energetic and inspiring force, and her commitment to furthering |
|
effective political leadership and quality medical care in the Lone |
|
Star State makes her a deserving recipient of this accolade; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Maureen Priestner on receiving the |
|
2007 June Bratcher Award from the Texas Medical Association |
|
Political Action Committee and extend to her best wishes for the |
|
future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Priestner as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
