R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The girls' basketball team of Lindsay High School
  reached the pinnacle of success by winning the 1A Division I state
  title at the University Interscholastic League 2007 Girls
  Basketball State Championships; and
         WHEREAS, Posting a record of 31 wins and just four losses, the
  Lady Knights played brilliantly all year long; with just one loss in
  district play during the regular season, the team claimed the 15A
  district championship and carried its spirited brand of basketball
  into the postseason; and
         WHEREAS, Lindsay won the area championship by besting Hubbard
  High School 85-48 and demonstrated a similar mastery over its
  opponents in the regional playoff games, beating Trenton, Seymour,
  and Windthorst by comfortable margins to win a place in the state
  championship tournament; and
         WHEREAS, Facing off against the top-ranked team from Martins
  Mill High School in the semifinals, the Lady Knights rose to the
  occasion and matched their opponent point-for-point before
  triumphing in the second overtime period by a score of 62-60; this
  set the stage for the title game, when Lindsay knocked off Sundown
  High School 43-36 to claim the 1A Division I crown; and
         WHEREAS, Three members of the team, Brittany Anderle, Chelsea
  Hermes, and Christina Eckart, were named to the all-tournament
  team, with Ms. Eckart taking home the Most Valuable Player honor for
  the championship game; essential contributions were also made by
  the other members of the team: Kaileigh Hess, Amanda Hess, Karissa
  Reiter, Autumn Murrill, Stephanie Neu, Emily Fuhrmann, Katelyn
  Brewer, Hillary Hoelker, Rose Hermes, Elizabeth Martin, Beverly
  Knabe, and Kayla Hess; and
         WHEREAS, The players received guidance and inspiration from
  head coach Don Neu and assistant coach Robin Hess and were supported
  by an efficient staff of managers that included Rhiannon Robinson,
  Emily Copeland, and Bailey Kuhn; the success of the school's
  athletic program has been supervised by Dr. Jason W. Ceyanes, Sr.,
  the superintendent of the Lindsay Independent School District, and
  athletic director Cody Bounds; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state title requires an exceptional degree
  of ability along with an unparalleled desire to succeed, and the
  2007 championship season will stand as a cherished memory for the
  Lindsay High School basketball players and as a source of pride for
  their fellow students and their many supporters in the community;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Lady Knights basketball team of
  Lindsay High School for winning the 2007 UIL 1A Division I state
  basketball championship and extend best wishes to the players,
  coaches, and staff for future success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
