R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Pasadena High School has been awarded a Texas |
|
|
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (T-STEM) Network |
|
|
Acceleration grant by the Texas Education Agency; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Network Acceleration program is part of a larger |
|
|
statewide initiative to enhance achievement in science, |
|
|
technology, engineering, and math among high school students in an |
|
|
effort to encourage more students to pursue careers in these |
|
|
fields; specifically, the program provides campuses with the |
|
|
resources needed to implement strategies to improve student |
|
|
performance in math and science on the TAKS, enroll more students in |
|
|
advanced math and science coursework, and increase student |
|
|
participation in college-level STEM coursework; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Principal Chris |
|
|
Bolyard, Pasadena High School serves some 2,400 students who will |
|
|
benefit from the $50,000 grant, which will fund a network |
|
|
acceleration program from May 1, 2007, through February 28, 2009; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The state's continued economic prosperity depends |
|
|
on the education of its young people, who represent its future |
|
|
innovators, leaders, and scholars, and the T-STEM Network |
|
|
Acceleration grant will significantly enhance math and science |
|
|
instruction at Pasadena High School; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Pasadena High School on its receipt |
|
|
of a Texas Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Network |
|
|
Acceleration grant and extend to all those affiliated with the |
|
|
school sincere best wishes for success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Pasadena High School as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
