R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Pasadena High School has been awarded a Texas
  Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (T-STEM) Network
  Acceleration grant by the Texas Education Agency; and
         WHEREAS, The Network Acceleration program is part of a larger
  statewide initiative to enhance achievement in science,
  technology, engineering, and math among high school students in an
  effort to encourage more students to pursue careers in these
  fields; specifically, the program provides campuses with the
  resources needed to implement strategies to improve student
  performance in math and science on the TAKS, enroll more students in
  advanced math and science coursework, and increase student
  participation in college-level STEM coursework; and
          WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Principal Chris
  Bolyard, Pasadena High School serves some 2,400 students who will
  benefit from the $50,000 grant, which will fund a network
  acceleration program from May 1, 2007, through February 28, 2009;
  and
         WHEREAS, The state's continued economic prosperity depends
  on the education of its young people, who represent its future
  innovators, leaders, and scholars, and the T-STEM Network
  Acceleration grant will significantly enhance math and science
  instruction at Pasadena High School; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Pasadena High School on its receipt
  of a Texas Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Network
  Acceleration grant and extend to all those affiliated with the
  school sincere best wishes for success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Pasadena High School as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
