R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Pressley Ridge, an internationally recognized |
|
leader in the care of troubled children, is observing the 175th |
|
anniversary of its founding on April 17, 2007; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to its work in Texas, Pressley Ridge |
|
offers outreach programs in Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, |
|
Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of |
|
Columbia, as well as in Hungary, Portugal, and Ukraine; and |
|
WHEREAS, This nonprofit organization provides an array of |
|
services, including foster care, family-based shelter care, |
|
adoption services, supervised independent and transitional living, |
|
and therapeutic social groups; and |
|
WHEREAS, Pressley Ridge's staff members and professional |
|
foster parents are committed to the philosophy of Re-Education, a |
|
treatment that focuses on the strengths of each child and family and |
|
which encourages the development of trusting relationships with |
|
caring, committed adults; and |
|
WHEREAS, By teaching competence and creating an environment |
|
in which change is possible, Pressley Ridge is making a difference |
|
in the lives of individuals in need of guidance and a helping hand, |
|
and this notable organization merits special recognition for its |
|
continuing advocacy in support of troubled youths and their |
|
families; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize the 175th anniversary of Pressley |
|
Ridge and commend the many individuals affiliated with the agency |
|
for their efforts to care for and assist troubled children and their |
|
families; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Pressley Ridge as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
