R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, After nearly four decades of outstanding service to
  the teaching profession, Mary J. DePeri is retiring from the Plano
  Independent School District in May 2007; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. DePeri earned her undergraduate degree from
  Hardin-Simmons University and her master's degree in education from
  North Texas State University before beginning her career as a
  social studies teacher for Somerset ISD in Bexar County in 1968; and
         WHEREAS, She went on to join the faculty of Bowman Middle
  School in Plano, where, in addition to fulfilling her duties as a
  classroom teacher, Ms. DePeri served as team leader of
  seventh-grade English, history, and math, as coordinator of parent
  coaches for the Odyssey of the Mind state and world competitions,
  and as sponsor of the student council and the school's chapter of
  Texas Junior Historians; and
         WHEREAS, Wholly committed to her field, Ms. DePeri has
  further distinguished herself through her involvement in the Plano
  Education Association, the Texas State Teachers Association, and
  the National Education Association, all of which she served as
  president; a member of the Plano, Texas, and National Councils for
  the Social Studies, she has also shared her time and talents with
  several Plano ISD committees, including the student awards
  committee, which she founded; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed educator was named the Bowman Middle
  School Teacher of the Year and was the recipient of a Super Civic
  Club Citizenship Award; and
         WHEREAS, Known for her ability to introduce her students to
  the wonders of history, Mary DePeri leaves Bowman Middle School
  with a legacy of enthusiasm and achievement as well as numerous
  friends and colleagues who wish her well in this new chapter of her
  life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Mary J. DePeri on the occasion of
  her retirement from the Plano Independent School District and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. DePeri as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
