R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A 60th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love
  and shared experiences, and Alejandro Villarreal, Sr., and Victoria
  Villarreal of Elsa celebrated this joyous milestone in their
  marriage on March 31, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, The Villarreals met in 1946 in Engelman Garden, a
  farming community near Elsa; they were joined in matrimony the
  following year at a ceremony held at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic
  Church in Weslaco; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, Mr. and Mrs. Villarreal became
  the parents of six children, Jesus, Rene, Ricardo, Debra Ann,
  Alejandro, and Yolanda; they later welcomed into their family 21
  grandchildren, six of whom they adopted and raised as their own, as
  well as 25 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Villarreal is a veteran of the Texas National
  Guard and worked for Texas Plastics in Elsa and later for Azteca
  Milling in Edinburg, from which he retired; Mrs. Villarreal was
  employed as a nurse and in retail management; today this loving
  couple are the devoted caregivers to their granddaughter Chandra,
  and they continue to inspire all who know them with their
  selflessness and compassion; and
         WHEREAS, Alejandro and Victoria Villarreal have enjoyed six
  decades of abiding love and affection for one another, and they are
  among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a
  lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Alejandro and Victoria Villarreal
  on their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Villarreal as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
