R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The city of Winnsboro has lost an admired citizen
  and civic leader with the passing of George Simms Lemon, Jr., on
  February 24, 2007, at the age of 74; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Lemon was born to George Lemon, Sr., and Pauline
  Lemon in Lubbock on April 9, 1932; he resided for more than 36 years
  in Winnsboro, where he was an attorney in private practice,
  specializing in bankruptcy law; he was also the owner of Tri-County
  LLC and the co-owner of Lakewood Land and Title of Mount Vernon and
  of Lake Country Mortgage; and
         WHEREAS, Highly esteemed by his neighbors and fellow citizens
  in the community, Mr. Lemon formerly served on the Winnsboro City
  Council, where he held the position of mayor pro-tem; he also served
  as a director of the Winnsboro Bank and Trust and as attorney for
  the Upper Sabine Solid Waste Management District; in addition, he
  was a valued member of the Winnsboro Chamber of Commerce, the
  Winnsboro Rotary Club, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
  Saints; and
         WHEREAS, A deeply devoted family man, George Lemon shared a
  loving marriage of 52 years with Phyllis Ann Emory Lemon and
  together they became the proud parents of seven children; Mr. Lemon
  was preceded in death by his son, George Simms Lemon III, and a
  grandson, Jeremy Alan Lemon; and
         WHEREAS, George Lemon brought to his many endeavors an
  unfailing integrity, steady purposefulness, and generosity of
  spirit that won him the affection and appreciation of countless
  fellow Texans, and he leaves behind memories that will be forever
  cherished by all who were privileged to share in the richness of his
  life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of George S. Lemon, Jr.,
  and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Phyllis Ann Emory Lemon; to his daughters, Laura Spendlove,
  Leigh Myers, Susan Simons, Sabette Doan, Leta Martin, and Staci
  Taylor; to his sister, Cherile Schuetzeburg; to his brother, Jon
  Lemon; to his 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and to
  his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George
  Simms Lemon, Jr.
