R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Pastor Mark Harris is celebrating 19 years of
  devoted service to the congregation of Cooper Missionary Baptist
  Church in Fort Worth in April 2007; and
         WHEREAS, Born on September 12, 1957, to Pastor Cecil Harris,
  Sr., and Alberta Harris, Mark Anthony Harris was the eldest son
  among 13 brothers and sisters; and
         WHEREAS, Even as a child his vocation was clear; baptized in
  his father's church, Galatian Missionary Baptist Church, he
  attended Sunday School, sang in the choir, and participated in the
  Baptist Training Union and other groups; and
         WHEREAS, A 1976 graduate in commercial art from Green B.
  Trimble Technical High School, Mark Harris continued his education
  at The University of Texas at Arlington and at Trinity Valley
  Baptist College; and
         WHEREAS, In 1978 he married Pamela Fittsgill, and the joy
  they derive from their marriage has only been further enhanced by
  the birth of their three children; and
         WHEREAS, Following in the footsteps of his father, this
  esteemed gentleman answered the call to the ministry and was
  ordained at the age of 23; he preached his first sermon, entitled
  "I'll Tell It," in March 1981, and since then has shared his faith
  with congregations in many states and overseas; and
         WHEREAS, Since April 1988, Mark Harris has been the pastor of
  Cooper Missionary Baptist Church, providing guidance and
  inspiration to his flock for 19 years; he has further served his
  community as the financial secretary and first vice-moderator of
  the Elm Grove District Association; and
         WHEREAS, Through his spiritual leadership and unshakable
  faith, Pastor Harris has long enriched the lives of his congregants
  and fellow citizens; he will no doubt continue to be an example and
  a guide to all who know him in the years to come; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Pastor Mark Harris on his 19 years of
  exemplary service to Cooper Missionary Baptist Church and to the
  greater community and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Pastor Harris as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
