R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Ann Crenshaw is stepping down from her position as
  choir director of Houston Christian High School in 2007, and this
  occasion provides a fitting opportunity to honor her for her
  notable 34-year career in education; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Crenshaw studied religious education at
  Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene and went on to teach at
  Seymour High School and Sam Houston High School; after taking time
  off to raise a family, she returned to the classroom in 1972 as a
  substitute teacher with Northwest Academy; and
         WHEREAS, The following year, Mrs. Crenshaw began teaching
  elementary music, adding middle and high school classes to her
  schedule in 1980, and for a time, she oversaw 1,300 students;
  Northwest Academy opened Houston Christian High School in 1999, and
  Mrs. Crenshaw divided her time between the new facility and
  elementary and middle school courses at First Baptist Academy
  before ultimately taking over the choir program at Houston
  Christian High School; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Crenshaw is an instructor of exceptional talent
  and ability, and she has led her students to 19 consecutive TAPPS
  Overall State Music Vocal Championships; and
         WHEREAS, Active in her community, she has served as director
  of the south division of Singing Women of Texas and as mezzo soloist
  for the Houston Symphony's 1973 presentation of the Messiah; she is
  also a member of First Baptist Church, where she participates in the
  music ministry; and
         WHEREAS, For more than three decades, Ann Crenshaw has
  instilled in her students a love of music that they will treasure
  throughout their lives, and as she embarks on a new chapter in her
  life, she may reflect with pride on her many achievements; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Ann Crenshaw on the occasion of her
  retirement from Houston Christian High School and that she be
  extended sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Crenshaw as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
