R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Deerpark Middle School of the Round Rock Independent
  School District has achieved notable success during the 2006-2007
  school year; and
         WHEREAS, The winner of the Texas Education Agency Gold
  Performance Acknowledgment for three consecutive years, Deerpark
  has earned the 2006 Level II Commitment Award from The University of
  Texas at Austin Center for Performance Excellence and was recently
  named one of the Hundred Best Public Schools in Texas by Texas
  Monthly magazine; and
         WHEREAS, This outstanding campus has participated in the
  Texas Education Agency's Adolescent Literacy Project, conducted by
  The University of Texas at Austin Vaughn Gross Center for Reading
  and Language Arts; moreover, as a Gateway to Technology pilot
  school, Deerpark is the only middle school in Central Texas to offer
  a combined math, science, engineering, and shop program that
  enables students to earn high school credit; and
         WHEREAS, Talented young Texans who attend the institution
  have become state and national finalists in the Duke University
  Talent Identification Program, while the seventh grade Academic UIL
  team was named third place district sweepstakes winner and four
  students earned Awards of Excellence in the National Parent Teacher
  Association's Reflections contest; and
         WHEREAS, Students have also excelled in extracurricular
  activities, with the seventh grade basketball team named district
  champions and the orchestra named sweepstakes winner in the North
  Area Austin UIL orchestra concert and sight reading competition;
  and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated staff and faculty are committed to helping
  all students achieve their full potential, and their professional
  successes have earned them a number of honors; in the past year, art
  teachers from the institution have been selected as presenters at
  the Texas Art Education Association Conference and National Art
  Education Association Conference; and
         WHEREAS, Deerpark Middle School has set high standards to
  which others may aspire, and its accomplishments during 2006 and
  2007 are a great honor for the school and merit special recognition;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Deerpark Middle School for its many
  achievements during the 2006-2007 school year and commend its
  faculty, staff, and students for their outstanding efforts; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Deerpark as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
