R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Cody Wendt of Willis demonstrated great courage and
  initiative on February 15, 2007, when he single-handedly put out a
  fire on the porch of a neighbor's home; and
         WHEREAS, While riding home with his family after a dinner
  out, Cody Wendt noticed flames coming from his elderly neighbors'
  porch; and
         WHEREAS, The quick-thinking 14-year-old rushed to the scene
  and stomped out the fire, risking flames that rose as high as his
  thighs; his bold efforts extinguished the blaze, preventing it from
  reaching several oxygen tanks only a few feet away; and
         WHEREAS, After alerting the homeowners to the situation, Cody
  and his brother called the local fire department; the Klein
  Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call, but found the fire
  already out; and
         WHEREAS, Aided by seven years of Boy Scout training, Cody
  Wendt swiftly and correctly assessed a dangerous situation and
  acted with initiative and heroism; he is clearly an exceptional
  young man with a generous heart, a courageous spirit, and a cool
  head; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Cody Wendt for his bravery in saving the
  lives of his neighbors and extend sincere best wishes to him for a
  bright and promising future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Wendt as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
