R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The citizens of Irving lost a dedicated public |
|
servant with the tragic passing of Officer Andrew Albert Esparza in |
|
the line of duty on April 13, 2007, at the age of 26, while coming to |
|
the aid of a fellow officer; and |
|
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of North Texas, Andrew Esparza |
|
was born in Fort Worth on April 29, 1980, and graduated from |
|
Burleson High School in 1998; he earned degrees in business |
|
marketing and Spanish from The University of Texas at Arlington and |
|
followed in his brother's footsteps when he joined the Irving |
|
Police Department in 2005; and |
|
WHEREAS, Officer Esparza's expertise and professionalism |
|
belied his age and earned him the respect and admiration of his |
|
peers; chosen to serve on the department's SWAT team, he was known |
|
for his desire to help others and was always eager to lend a hand to |
|
individuals in need; and |
|
WHEREAS, In his free time, this active and vibrant young |
|
Texan enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, softball, and rock |
|
climbing; above all else, he cherished his faith and family; and |
|
WHEREAS, Andrew Esparza built a life that was filled with |
|
accomplishments and meaningful service, and those who were |
|
privileged to know him will forever carry him close in their hearts; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Officer Andrew Albert |
|
Esparza and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to |
|
his parents, Rafael and Christina Esparza; to his brothers, Rafael |
|
Esparza, Jr., and his wife, Jennifer, and Felix Esparza and his |
|
wife, Haylee; to his sister, Zoe Esparza; to his grandparents, |
|
Lydia Garcia and Lazaro and Olivia Cantu; to his girlfriend, Kenlie |
|
Key; to his nieces and nephews, Saeya, Sloan, Slade, and Rylee |
|
Esparza; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Officer |
|
Andrew Albert Esparza. |
