R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The citizens of Irving lost a dedicated public
  servant with the tragic passing of Officer Andrew Albert Esparza in
  the line of duty on April 13, 2007, at the age of 26, while coming to
  the aid of a fellow officer; and
         WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of North Texas, Andrew Esparza
  was born in Fort Worth on April 29, 1980, and graduated from
  Burleson High School in 1998; he earned degrees in business
  marketing and Spanish from The University of Texas at Arlington and
  followed in his brother's footsteps when he joined the Irving
  Police Department in 2005; and
         WHEREAS, Officer Esparza's expertise and professionalism
  belied his age and earned him the respect and admiration of his
  peers; chosen to serve on the department's SWAT team, he was known
  for his desire to help others and was always eager to lend a hand to
  individuals in need; and
         WHEREAS, In his free time, this active and vibrant young
  Texan enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, softball, and rock
  climbing; above all else, he cherished his faith and family; and
         WHEREAS, Andrew Esparza built a life that was filled with
  accomplishments and meaningful service, and those who were
  privileged to know him will forever carry him close in their hearts;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Officer Andrew Albert
  Esparza and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to
  his parents, Rafael and Christina Esparza; to his brothers, Rafael
  Esparza, Jr., and his wife, Jennifer, and Felix Esparza and his
  wife, Haylee; to his sister, Zoe Esparza; to his grandparents,
  Lydia Garcia and Lazaro and Olivia Cantu; to his girlfriend, Kenlie
  Key; to his nieces and nephews, Saeya, Sloan, Slade, and Rylee
  Esparza; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Officer
  Andrew Albert Esparza.
