R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to a close with the |
|
passing of Rhoda Magdalene Burke of Deer Park on September 6, 2006, |
|
at the age of 92; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Madison County on April 14, 1914, the former |
|
Rhoda Jordy was the wife of the late Ancel W. Burke, with whom she |
|
lovingly raised a family and helped found the Deer Park Church of |
|
Christ; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Burke was employed for two decades with Deer |
|
Park Independent School District, retiring as the manager of the |
|
Deer Park Junior High School cafeteria; she was known for her |
|
artistic and culinary gifts, and she readily shared her talents |
|
with her family and many friends; and |
|
WHEREAS, Those fortunate to have known Rhoda Burke will |
|
remember her faith and her warm and generous nature; although she |
|
will be greatly missed, her gentle spirit will undoubtedly endure |
|
in the hearts of those whose lives she touched with her friendship |
|
and love; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Rhoda Magdalene Burke |
|
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her |
|
sons, Jimmy Burke and his wife, Peggy, and Wayne Burke and his wife, |
|
Sandra; to her grandchildren, Adrian Burke and his wife, Traci Ann, |
|
Scott Burke and his wife, Erin, Chad Burke and his wife, Shannon, |
|
Todd Burke, Rena Cable and her husband, Jason, Kimberly Burke, and |
|
Kenneth Burke; to her great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Susie, Kadie, |
|
Ellie, Heather, Blaine, Campbell, Jolie, Avery, Adalyn, Audrey, and |
|
Annelise; and to her many other relatives and friends; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rhoda |
|
Magdalene Burke. |
