R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The success of charitable organizations depends on
  the generosity of individuals who understand the importance of
  serving others, and each year, Texans give millions of dollars to
  these groups to fund a variety of worthwhile projects; and
         WHEREAS, Nearly 300 charities in Texas are members of Texas
  Charity Advocates, an organization dedicated to supporting
  philanthropic groups throughout the Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, The efforts of this notable association have raised
  funds for organizations benefiting children, for medical centers,
  and for U.S. soldiers and their families; money has also gone to
  volunteer fire departments, emergency medical services, and
  college scholarships; and
         WHEREAS, During the past year alone, Texas Charity Advocates
  has helped to bring in nearly $32 million for a number of important
  endeavors; its work has provided hope and support for many, and its
  continued efforts will undoubtedly lead to further positive and
  productive change in our state; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize April 24, 2007, as Texas Charity Day
  at the State Capitol and commend Texas Charity Advocates for its
  work in behalf of charitable organizations in the Lone Star State;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Texas Charity Advocates as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
