R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The success of charitable organizations depends on |
|
the generosity of individuals who understand the importance of |
|
serving others, and each year, Texans give millions of dollars to |
|
these groups to fund a variety of worthwhile projects; and |
|
WHEREAS, Nearly 300 charities in Texas are members of Texas |
|
Charity Advocates, an organization dedicated to supporting |
|
philanthropic groups throughout the Lone Star State; and |
|
WHEREAS, The efforts of this notable association have raised |
|
funds for organizations benefiting children, for medical centers, |
|
and for U.S. soldiers and their families; money has also gone to |
|
volunteer fire departments, emergency medical services, and |
|
college scholarships; and |
|
WHEREAS, During the past year alone, Texas Charity Advocates |
|
has helped to bring in nearly $32 million for a number of important |
|
endeavors; its work has provided hope and support for many, and its |
|
continued efforts will undoubtedly lead to further positive and |
|
productive change in our state; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize April 24, 2007, as Texas Charity Day |
|
at the State Capitol and commend Texas Charity Advocates for its |
|
work in behalf of charitable organizations in the Lone Star State; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Texas Charity Advocates as an expression of high |
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
