R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Chelsea Schwartz of Garden City has deservedly been
  named Miss West Texas 2007, and she will soon represent her fellow
  citizens with dignity and grace in the upcoming Miss Texas pageant;
  and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Floyd and Martha Schwartz, this
  lovely young woman is truly a source of great pride to her family
  and her community; and
         WHEREAS, Currently completing her undergraduate studies in
  mass communications at West Texas A&M University, Ms. Schwartz
  plans to earn a master's degree from the University of Dallas and
  hopes to one day pursue a career with a major news corporation; and
         WHEREAS, This talented Texan has been a leader throughout her
  school years, most recently serving as news director for her
  university, campaign chair for the Don't Mess With Texas Campus
  Cleanup, and vice president of the Collegiate P.U.L.S.E. chapter;
  also active in her community, she has shared her time with the
  Eveline Rivers Christmas Project, Make-A-Wish Foundation, PASO,
  Special Olympics, Boys & Girls Club, and the American Cancer
  Society; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Schwartz has earned a number of accolades for
  her academic and volunteer efforts; a Presidential Classroom
  Graduate, she was named to both the National Academy and Society of
  High School Scholars and the National Dean's List and Honor Roll,
  and she also earned the Howard County Farm Bureau Scholarship and
  the Permian Basin Fair Scholarship and is listed in the Collegiate
  Who's Who; and
         WHEREAS, She will now go on to compete in the 2007 Miss Texas
  pageant, where she will present her platform issue, "Action for
  Healthy Kids," to champion causes that will encourage children to
  make informed choices about nutrition and exercise; and
         WHEREAS, Blessed with a keen mind, a warm personality, and
  natural charm, Chelsea Schwartz may indeed look forward to a bright
  and promising future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Chelsea Schwartz on being named
  Miss West Texas 2007 and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Schwartz as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
