R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dianne Gibson of Dallas has been named a winner of
  the 2007 Outstanding Texan Award in the category of
  community/public service by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and
         WHEREAS, Outstanding Texans are honored for the positive
  impact they make in their communities, and the dedicated service
  that Ms. Gibson has provided as a public employee has greatly
  enhanced the lives of many individuals in the Dallas area; and
         WHEREAS, After growing up in Georgia and attending Hillsboro
  Junior College in Tampa, Florida, Ms. Gibson moved to the Lone Star
  State, where she works for the City of Dallas Attorney's Office as
  the community court manager at the Martin Luther King, Jr.,
  Community Center; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Gibson has lent her communication and public
  relations skills to many worthy causes, and her accomplishments are
  impressive; one of her projects was the development of a program
  that provided more than 2,600 children with school supplies and
  clothing, and she has also assisted with food and clothing programs
  for the homeless; moreover, she has served on many boards and
  commissions in Dallas, including Head Start of Greater Dallas, the
  NAACP, and the Dallas County Citizens Advisory Election Committee;
  and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Gibson has received numerous commendations for
  her contributions to her community, including from the United Negro
  College Fund, the Dallas Police Department, and the Dallas Black
  Firefighters, as well as from the South Dallas Business and
  Professional Women's Club; and
         WHEREAS, Dianne Gibson stands as an inspiring example of how
  one person can better a community through civic activism, and the
  Outstanding Texan commendation is a fitting recognition of her
  exemplary achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dianne Gibson on receiving a 2007
  Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and
  extend to her best wishes for further success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Gibson as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
