R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Alfred Huntsberry, Jr., of Dallas has been named a |
|
|
winner of the 2007 Outstanding Texan Award in the category of |
|
|
business by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Outstanding Texans are honored for the positive |
|
|
impact they make in their communities, and the dedicated service |
|
|
that Mr. Huntsberry has provided as a businessman has greatly |
|
|
enhanced the lives of many individuals in the Dallas area; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born in Abbeville, Louisiana, Mr. Huntsberry moved |
|
|
to Dallas in 1958 and became interested in the printing business; he |
|
|
learned the trade, including how to repair the machinery, so that he |
|
|
could open his own business, and he started ALP Printing Company in |
|
|
1974; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. Huntsberry has contributed his |
|
|
time and talents to various community organizations; a member of |
|
|
the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, he has been honored with many |
|
|
awards, including ones from the Park South YMCA, the Sickle Cell |
|
|
Anemia Foundation of Dallas, and the Elite News, and he was the |
|
|
recipient of a Legacy Award in business by the Urban League of |
|
|
Greater Dallas; in addition, he serves on the deacon board and is |
|
|
chairman emeritus of the trustee board for Salem Institutional |
|
|
Baptist Church, where he is also a member; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Huntsberry stands as an inspiring example of how |
|
|
one person can better a community through professional dedication |
|
|
and civic activism, and the Outstanding Texan commendation is a |
|
|
fitting recognition of his exemplary achievements; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Alfred Huntsberry, Jr., for |
|
|
receiving a 2007 Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas Legislative |
|
|
Black Caucus and extend to him best wishes for further success; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Huntsberry as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
