R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Reverend Wendell Blair, Sr., of Dallas has been
  named a winner of the 2007 Outstanding Texan Award in the category
  of pastors by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and
         WHEREAS, Outstanding Texans are honored for the positive
  impact they make in their communities, and the dedicated service
  that Reverend Blair has provided as a clergyman has greatly
  enhanced the lives of many individuals in the Dallas area; and
         WHEREAS, After graduating from Booker T. Washington High
  School, Reverend Blair enrolled in Bible school at Southern Bible
  Institute; he also continued his studies at the Dallas Theological
  Seminary and received an honorary doctorate degree from Reed
  Christian College and Seminary of Los Angeles; and
         WHEREAS, For 36 years, Reverend Blair has led the
  congregation at True Vine of Holiness Missionary Baptist Church; in
  addition, he has been a vital presence in several religious
  organizations in his community, including serving as moderator of
  the True Fellowship Missionary District Association and chair of
  the steering committee for the D. Edwin Johnson Bible Institute; he
  also is a member of several local, regional, and national Baptist
  and interfaith groups; and
         WHEREAS, Wendell Blair stands as an inspiring example of how
  one person can better a community through professional and civic
  dedication, and the Outstanding Texan commendation is a fitting
  recognition of his exemplary achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend Wendell Blair, Sr.,
  for receiving a 2007 Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas
  Legislative Black Caucus and extend to him best wishes for further
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Reverend Blair as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
