R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Rickie G. Rush of the Inspiring Body of Christ
  Worldwide Ministries has been named a winner of the 2007
  Outstanding Texan Award in the category of pastors by the Texas
  Legislative Black Caucus; and
         WHEREAS, Outstanding Texans are honored for the positive
  impact they make in their communities, and the dedicated service
  that Dr. Rush has provided as a minister has greatly enhanced the
  lives of many individuals in the Dallas area; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Arlington,
  Dr. Rush taught theater arts at Skyline High School for 17 years
  before leaving to pursue a career in the ministry; he earned a
  doctor of divinity degree from Rialto Bible College and went on to
  found the Inspiring Body of Christ Worldwide Ministries, which, in
  less than two decades, has grown to include more than 14,000
  members; in addition to fulfilling his duties as pastor, Dr. Rush
  hosts regular radio and television segments on several Metroplex
  stations and serves as principal of the Mary L. Rush Children's
  College and the IBOC Christian Academy; and
         WHEREAS, Devoted to helping those in need, Dr. Rush used
  earnings from presale orders of his first book, May I Have Your
  Order, Please?, to sponsor food giveaways in the community through
  collaborations with Williams Chicken and McDonald's; moreover, he
  is widely respected for his ability to encourage and uplift others
  in his role as a public speaker; and
         WHEREAS, Rickie G. Rush stands as an inspiring example of how
  one person can better a community through professional and civic
  dedication, and the Outstanding Texan commendation is a fitting
  recognition of his exemplary achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Rickie G. Rush on his receipt
  of a 2007 Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas Legislative Black
  Caucus and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Rush as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
