R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Mance Zachary of Dallas has been named a winner of
  the 2007 Outstanding Texan Award in the category of
  community/public service by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and
         WHEREAS, Outstanding Texans are honored for the positive
  impact they make in their communities, and the dedicated service
  that Mr. Zachary has provided as a civic leader has greatly enhanced
  the lives of many individuals in the Dallas area; and
         WHEREAS, A 1980 graduate of Waco High School, Mr. Zachary
  earned a baseball scholarship to Prairie View A&M University, where
  he studied business management and received a bachelor's degree in
  1984; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Zachary has been a valued employee of TXU for
  more than 18 years, serving in customer service, commercial sales,
  and after-market sales and holding such executive positions as
  business development manager, area manager, REP relations manager,
  and district manager; he is currently stationed in Austin as
  director of governmental advocacy during the 80th Legislative
  Session; and
         WHEREAS, Residents of North Texas have benefited from Mr.
  Zachary's dedicated public service; a member of the board of
  directors for the Duncanville, Cedar Hill, Southeast Dallas, and
  Oak Cliff Chambers of Commerce, he has served on the boards of the
  Duncanville Lions Club, Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau,
  Dallas ISD District 1 Planning Council, Southeast Dallas YMCA, and
  Best Southwest Partnership; in addition, he has been chair of the
  Duncanville Chamber of Commerce and Best Southwest Scholars
  community education outreach and served as scoutmaster for Birdie
  Alexander Elementary School in Dallas; and
         WHEREAS, Mance Zachary stands as an inspiring example of how
  one person can better a community through professional dedication
  and civic activism, and the Outstanding Texan commendation is a
  fitting recognition of his exemplary achievements; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Mance Zachary on receiving a 2007
  Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and
  extend to him best wishes for further success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Zachary as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
