R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The year 2006 marked the 75th anniversary of the
  founding of Credit Union of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1931 as Dallas Teachers Credit Union,
  the institution was the first teachers credit union in the state;
  and
         WHEREAS, Membership grew rapidly, reaching more than 27,000
  by the early 1970s; in 1988, Dallas Teachers Credit Union began
  providing community-based service for residents of the Dallas
  metroplex, and in 2001, it adopted a new name to more accurately
  reflect its diverse membership base; and
         WHEREAS, The organization has had a number of affiliates who
  have made a notable mark on the credit union movement; J. S. Henry
  was among the signers of the constitution and bylaws for the Texas
  Credit Union League, and H. B. Yates, the first president of Dallas
  Teachers Credit Union, was a Texas Credit Union League director and
  a director of the Credit Union National Association; another former
  president of Dallas Teachers Credit Union, Jack Mitchell, was
  instrumental in organizing the Credit Union Executives Society,
  serving as its first chair, and Ed Hale, a former manager of Dallas
  Teachers Credit Union, worked on legislation to allow credit unions
  to meet the needs of members and served as chair of the board of the
  Texas Credit Union League; and
         WHEREAS, Today, Credit Union of Texas serves nearly 200,000
  individuals who live, work, or attend school in Dallas, Collin, and
  Rockwall Counties, as well as parts of Denton County; and
         WHEREAS, For three quarters of a century, Credit Union of
  Texas has given exceptional service and provided hardworking
  citizens with financial assistance to realize their dreams, and it
  is a pleasure to recognize the valuable contributions of this Lone
  Star institution; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Credit Union of Texas on its 75th
  anniversary and extend to all those associated with the
  establishment best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Credit Union of Texas as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
