R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The community of Lufkin lost one of its beloved
  citizens with the passing of Dr. Bill Shelton on October 29, 2006,
  at the age of 72; and
         WHEREAS, A pioneer of cancer treatment in East Texas, Dr.
  Shelton served as director of the Arthur Temple, Sr., Regional
  Cancer Center; and
         WHEREAS, His distinguished medical career spanned more than
  40 years; in addition to his professional efforts to stop the
  devastating effects of cancer, he started a benefit to raise
  awareness and money to fight the disease; known as the Totally
  Awesome Fishing Adventure, the event brought in tens of thousands
  of dollars each year; and
         WHEREAS, Those who had the privilege of knowing Bill Shelton
  will never forget the gentleness, compassion, and calm
  professionalism that this talented physician brought to every facet
  of his life; although his presence is gone from us now, his work
  will endure for years to come, and his memory will live on in the
  hearts of the countless Texans whose lives he touched during his
  time on this earth; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dr. Bill Shelton and
  extend deepest sympathy to all those who mourn his passing; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Bill
  Shelton.
