R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their
  memories of Doris Johnson Allen, who passed away on April 21, 2007,
  at the age of 70; and
         WHEREAS, Born on August 18, 1936, to Johnny and Vera Johnson,
  Mrs. Allen grew up in Fayetteville, Texas, and in 1959, she married
  Charles Allen; this loving couple shared nearly half a century of
  marriage and were blessed with a close-knit family of two children
  and three grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, After graduating from Massey Business College, Mrs.
  Allen enjoyed a career as an executive secretary with C. E. Lumis
  Engineering Firm that spanned 25 years; a woman of deep faith, she
  attended Greater Mt. Nebo Baptist Church for almost five decades
  and served her congregation in a number of capacities; and
         WHEREAS, She also shared her time with the Baptist Ministers'
  Wives and served as a teacher with the youth department of the
  Puritan District Association; in addition, her volunteer efforts
  benefited the women's shelter, where she provided counseling and
  clothing for underprivileged children; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Doris Allen
  will long remember her devotion to her family, her church, and the
  wider community; although she will be sorely missed, her legacy
  will live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives she so
  richly blessed with her love and friendship; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Doris Johnson Allen
  and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  husband, Pastor Charles L. Allen, Sr.; to her son, the Reverend
  Charles L. Allen, Jr., and his wife, Sybil Allen; to her daughter,
  Dietra Allen Moore; to her grandchildren, Monica Allen, Charles L.
  Allen III, and Dajah Moore; to her brother, Ralph Johnson, Sr., and
  his wife, Ora Johnson; to her brother-in-law, Lawrence Allen, and
  his wife, Dr. Alma Allen; to her sister-in-law, Shirley Allen; and
  to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Doris
  Johnson Allen.
