R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Houston is hosting
  its annual bazaar June 9 and June 10, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, This lively community gathering features live
  zydeco music, disc jockeys, a dance contest, a western-wear dress
  contest, and lots of good food; drawing together friends and
  neighbors, the bazaar provides two days of enjoyable entertainment
  that helps support this historic parish; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1949 to serve African American Catholic
  families who had moved to east Houston from Louisiana, Our Lady Star
  of the Sea Church has been a vital force in the Houston area for more
  than five decades; and
         WHEREAS, Today, the church serves a membership of 350
  families; they are ably guided by Father Louis R. Saporito, who
  oversees the many organizations and services that meet the needs of
  parishioners; and
         WHEREAS, The annual bazaar is a popular social occasion for
  the residents of Houston and a source of unity and pride for the
  members of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, and this worthwhile
  event is indeed deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the annual bazaar at Our Lady Star
  of the Sea Church and extend best wishes to the organizers and
  attendees for a successful and enjoyable event; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
