R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The actions of a few individuals can make mighty |
|
changes in the lives of many, and our younger citizens can play an |
|
important role in shaping the future of our society; and |
|
WHEREAS, Lubbock's Outstanding Teen 2007 Hillary Sproul is |
|
committed to enhancing her community through volunteer service; |
|
believing that there is no greater source of energy than that of a |
|
determined, energized teenager, she has created a program called |
|
"Get Up, Get Out, Get Involved!" in an effort to motivate her peers |
|
to serve their fellow citizens; and |
|
WHEREAS, Emphasizing networking and problem-solving skills, |
|
the program inspires a spirit of volunteerism that will not only |
|
benefit local communities, but also help to broaden awareness and |
|
understanding while developing civic leadership and social |
|
entrepreneurship in our younger generation; and |
|
WHEREAS, The future of our state, the strength of our |
|
communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend, |
|
in great measure, on the commitment of young people who use their |
|
considerable talents and resources to serve others, and this |
|
important initiative may indeed contribute to a brighter future for |
|
all Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize April 26, 2007, as Get Up, Get Out, Get |
|
Involved! Day for teens and commend Hillary Sproul for her |
|
important contributions to the betterment of her community; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Sproul as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
