R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The actions of a few individuals can make mighty
  changes in the lives of many, and our younger citizens can play an
  important role in shaping the future of our society; and
         WHEREAS, Lubbock's Outstanding Teen 2007 Hillary Sproul is
  committed to enhancing her community through volunteer service;
  believing that there is no greater source of energy than that of a
  determined, energized teenager, she has created a program called
  "Get Up, Get Out, Get Involved!" in an effort to motivate her peers
  to serve their fellow citizens; and
         WHEREAS, Emphasizing networking and problem-solving skills,
  the program inspires a spirit of volunteerism that will not only
  benefit local communities, but also help to broaden awareness and
  understanding while developing civic leadership and social
  entrepreneurship in our younger generation; and
         WHEREAS, The future of our state, the strength of our
  communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend,
  in great measure, on the commitment of young people who use their
  considerable talents and resources to serve others, and this
  important initiative may indeed contribute to a brighter future for
  all Texans; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize April 26, 2007, as Get Up, Get Out, Get
  Involved! Day for teens and commend Hillary Sproul for her
  important contributions to the betterment of her community; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Sproul as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
