R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The tragic death of Ernest Valencia Mendoza of
  Wharton County on January 19, 2007, at the age of 54, brought great
  sorrow to his family and friends in the Burr and Needville
  communities and beyond; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Sugar Land to Jacinta and Simon Lozano
  Mendoza, Ernie Mendoza graduated from Dulles High School; he served
  his country in the U.S. Army for four years and lived in Fort Bend
  County before moving to Burr in 1997; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Mendoza married Susie Gwinn on March 15, 1985,
  and they were blessed with seven children and four grandchildren;
  and
         WHEREAS, The chief of police with the Needville Independent
  School District for the past 10 years, Mr. Mendoza dedicated 25
  years of his life to law enforcement, having previously worked for
  Houston ISD and the City of Waco; and
         WHEREAS, A dedicated public servant, a devoted husband and
  father, and an actively engaged member of his community, Chief
  Mendoza excelled in each of these roles and touched countless lives
  with his generosity and kindness; although he is deeply missed, he
  leaves behind memories that will be forever treasured by those
  fortunate enough to have shared in his love and friendship; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ernest Valencia
  Mendoza and extend deepest sympathy to his wife, Susie Mendoza; to
  his children, Santana Mendoza, Morgan Muhlhausen and her husband,
  Nathan, Miranda Hodge and her husband, William, America Star
  Mendoza, Simon Paul Mendoza, Isreal Gwinn Mendoza, and Michael
  Shiloh Mendoza; to his grandchildren, Xavier Paul Mendoza, Kameron
  Bailey Mendoza, Madeline Elise Muhlhausen, and Damon Jackson Hodge;
  to his sisters, Dolores Guerra and her husband, Roel, Emily
  Mendoza, and Eloisa Vela and her husband, Travis; to his brother,
  Felipe Mendoza; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ernest
  Mendoza.
