R E S O L U T I O N
       WHEREAS, Debra Hurst of Joe Dan Mills Elementary School in
Austin has been named a finalist in the Lifetime Achievement
category of the 2007 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards; and
       WHEREAS, Created in cooperation with the Texas Association of
School Administrators, the awards program recognizes the
contributions of outstanding teachers and administrators in public
schools throughout the state; and
       WHEREAS, More than 2,000 applicants were considered for this
year's awards, including the Lifetime Achievement award, which
salutes educators with more than 20 years of experience; and
       WHEREAS, Her selection as a finalist is a testament to Ms.
Hurst's dedication to the children of the Lone Star State and her
proven ability to motivate, mentor, and provide innovative and
exciting instruction; and
       WHEREAS, Throughout her years of service as a teacher, Ms.
Hurst has inspired countless young students, and she has truly
enriched the lives of innumerable Texans; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Debra Hurst on being named a
finalist for the 2007 H-E-B Excellence in Education Lifetime
Achievement Award and extend to her best wishes for the future; and,
be it further
       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Hurst as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
