H.R. No. 1712
 
R E S O L U T I O N
       WHEREAS, Austin native Benjamin McKenzie is quickly
establishing himself as one of our country's most promising actors
with his impressive accomplishments on the big and silver screens;
and
       WHEREAS, An alumnus of Austin High School and the University
of Virginia, where he graduated with a degree in economics and
foreign relations, Mr. McKenzie earned national recognition for his
portrayal of Ryan Atwood in the iconic series The O.C.; he also
starred in the critically acclaimed independent film Junebug and
will be seen in the upcoming thriller 88 Minutes alongside Al
Pacino; and
       WHEREAS, Before taking Hollywood by storm, Mr. McKenzie honed
his craft in the theatre; he had roles in a number of productions at
the Williamstown Theatre Festival, including Street Scene and The
Blue Bird, parts in the University of Virginia's Measure for
Measure and Zoo Story, and work in the off-Broadway play Life is a
Dream in New York City; and
       WHEREAS, Mr. McKenzie has achieved considerable success in
his 28 years, and the Lone Star State is proud to claim this
talented native son as one of its own; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Benjamin McKenzie on his
achievements in the entertainment industry and extend to him best
wishes for the future; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. McKenzie as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
